So tempting

In the past few years I’ve been getting restless. There was a project that I wanted to make happen but unfortunately the sponsorship money proved harder to get than anticipated. It would have meant packing my life up and travelling around Australia for a year, exploring, filming, photographing and really living a very different life to the day-to-day regular grind. Youtube has some great videos of people pretty much doing.. Read More

No favours at all…

One of the best things about travelling is meeting people from all over the world. Sitting in airports I heard so many different languages and saw so many different nationalities and it made me smile. It’s one of those things that really gives you perspective on the world. The U.S. does have a reputation for being a bit inward looking and not really being aware of the rest of the.. Read More

A nice change

Before I left on my holiday I had been joking with friends that if I can’t get laid in Berlin then I was going to come back to Sydney and put myself down. Berlin is a fantastic city with a certain reputation for it’s sexual availability. Lots of gay bars have back rooms and it just seems like if you want sex, it’s really simple to find it. On this.. This is what it’s about

This article popped up on my Facebook today as I sit in my gorgeous little studio accommodation in Mykonos two-thirds of the way through my adventure. I hadn’t seen his original video but this one made me smile. A lot. Cynics out there will say he’s done it for youtube fame but I don’t think so. This to me, just seems like something someone would do to have fun and.. Read More

It’s true!

I’m now in the third and final phase of my holiday. Greece. Late yesterday afternoon, after two delayed flights I landed in Mykonos. Within two hours I was eating a delicious meal overlooking the old port and enjoying a beer. Today I caught the bus to Elia beach which is one of the few remaining beaches with a nude section. In years gone by Super Paradise beach used to be.. Read More

Thanks Iceland!

Sitting in Keflavik Airport, killing several hours before I leave I’m reflecting on my time in Iceland. Was it the dream that I expected it to be? No. Was it great? Yes. I’m going to be upfront. Iceland is not an “easy” place to have a holiday. Even now in Summer, it’s very cold for an Aussie who left a Winter that was warmer than this to come here. As.. Read More

The trip so far…

After a MARATHON journey that I have no desire to repeat, I hit Iceland on Saturday afternoon and within a short time of getting off the plane I was in my hostel. My mate arrived two hours later and from there we spent a couple of days in Reykjavik drinking over priced beers, walking for miles exploring and taking photos and eating over priced food. Iceland is damned expensive but.. Read More

So bloody close!

In four days time I will be on a plane winging my way to Europe. Sure there will be 36 hours and 40 minutes spent in an airplane seat trying to sleep and sitting around in airports to get there but that’s all part of the adventure. It feels like this holiday is getting very real all of a sudden. When I booked it back in September (who does that??).. Read More

Near or far?

Timo Wilderness is a Finnish blogger who sadly, like lots of my favourite bloggers seems to have gone a bit quiet. Today however I saw that he’s posted a short video about a project he was asked to  take on by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment in Finland. It is a part of his “Welcome to Finland” series that I’ve featured before on Aussielicious. This time Timo isn’t.. Read More

Tantalisingly close…

Two weeks. That’s it. In two weeks I will finally board a plane to fly a long and probably tedious, uncomfortable journey that will be more than justified by a destination that I’ve been wanting to see for 15 years. In 2002 I was living in London and in the Tube they had billboards advertising a deal on a three-day horse riding tour of Iceland. Unfortunately I couldn’t afford it.. Read More

I made a terrible mistake

Anyone who reads this blog must know that I’m essentially solar powered. I’d rather be in baking heat than cold weather any day. If the weather has to be cold the dear lord don’t let it be cold and wet. As a result, this brutal onset of winter always puts me in a slump. We had a really mild Autumn here in Sydney and every year jokes go around about.. Read More

Preparing myself

Travelling the world is an amazing experience that brings me a lot of joy. There is so much of the world to see and I’ve barely scratched the surface. Travelling alone as I have done most of my travels has it’s advantages and it’s disadvantages. I get to go on the holiday that I want and I can be completely selfish and not have to adapt to anyone else’s wishes… Read More

Any tips for me?

In exactly one calendar month, I board a plane bound for the other side of the world and a big adventure. In the planning stages, Greece took a lot more of the energy than other parts of the trip with a fair share of hassles getting accommodation sorted. Iceland was the initial priority and source of excitement given that it was the bucket list destination that I’d been thinking of.. Read More

Only to be polite

Two years ago on my last European adventure I reacquainted myself with the glory that is the Scandinavian man. The last time I’d been to Sweden and Denmark before that had been in 2002 and in Winter so although I witnessed the glory that is their cheekbones, that was about it. It’s too cold in those parts of the world to be lying naked in parks or going outside in.. Read More

Getting closer!!

In seven weeks today, yes 49 days and definitely counting, I board my plane for the marathon 36 hour journey to Iceland. It’s been on my bucket list since I was tempted to go in 2002 when I was living in London but couldn’t afford it on my poor bartender wages. Now, 15 years later it’s on. One of the things on my Iceland wish list, is to have a.. Read More
