I was going to work on a big post about my bucket list but every time I’d start I’d get distracted. So I’m going to do bucket list items as I think of them. One that I’ve talked about for a while on this blog but still haven’t managed is to get back on a surfboard and ride the waves nude. I haven’t surfed properly since I was a teenager but I’ve been on boards etc when I was in the surf lifesaving club and I’m pretty sure I will be able to stand up and ride a wave or two.

This video is 20 years old and not the best quality but Sonny Miller is one of the famous names in surf films and Brad Gerlach was a big name in surfing when this was filmed. It was filmed at Hossegor, a nude beach in France so Brad and Rod Kerr stripped off and did their great surfing thing on the waves in their birthday suits. I’ll do it soon.

As some of you would know, I’ve been struggling to nail down the theme for my next exhibition which is tentatively booked for February 2012. Today an idea that has been germinating in my head really came together for me and ideas for specific shots have been popping into my mind.

The last exhibition was all about hiding or putting a mask on or a filter between you and the world to feel secure. This next exhibition is all about feeling completely free. So I want to know, what is it, or when is it, that you feel completely free?

I have asked the same question on facebook and lots of people said similar things with a couple of distinct recurring themes coming up which coincidentally were already at the top of my list.

Those crazy Scandinavians. Don’t they know that children exposed to the naked body will turn into crazy murderers and evil-doers? Wait? There’s nothing wrong with nudity? Heaven forbid.

This video shows a kids television show, with a studio full of young children talking about a nude man that is right there before their eyes. Yes he has a sock over his penis but considering that in the US they blur out any sign of butt crack a man very close to full frontally nude in front of children is very liberal.

They don’t seem to have subtitles for most of the dialogue but it’s a discussion about the man’s tattoos. I say bring on more healthy discussions with children about their health, their bodies, sex education and all sorts of things and maybe we’ll have less teenage pregnancy, body issues, eating disorders and a wealth of other problems may be lessened.

A few years ago a reader pulled me up on using photos of guys taken at the beach without their consent, the kind taken with a zoom lens and a sneaky attitude. Since then I haven’t used any photos where I don’t think the subject knew they were being shot.

Having been a regular on nude beaches for some years now it would be probably a bit foolish of me to assume that someone hadn’t taken sneaky photos of me or my friends and that they may well turn up on the internet at some point. While I don’t think it’s right I think I’ve resigned myself to the fact that it may happen.

How would you react if it happened to you?

Now I don’t know how old these photos are but they almost make planking cool again. I know I posted about nude planking recently but these photos just keep turning up. It appears that planking isn’t just a solo sport, it can be played in teams or trios, even face to face. There are usually onlookers present so it is a sport for the exhibitionist or not shy.

My favourite is definitely the guy planking nude INSIDE a full fish tank (below). Absolute gold.

Today I’m having a day off sick from work and I thought I’d watch some DVD’s when I wasn’t napping so I got a hold of Eating Out 3 and Redwoods.

First up was Eating Out Three starring Chris Salvatore (left and middle above) and Michael R Walker who both get their junk out, as you can see. Now if you see Eating Out 1 & 2 you’ll know that they are very very light hearted fluff pieces with pretty average writing, even more average acting with a bit of muscle and cock thrown in to keep you from turning it off. What I do like about them, apart from the gratuitous muscle and cock is that they don’t pretend to be anything other than what they are.

Redwoods was at the other end of the gay cinema spectrum. Still fairly low budget but so very earnest and sincere it nearly made me more sick. There’s the guy in an unhappy relationship who has a week long affair with a stranger to town. He and his partner are so earnest that they are the proud parents of a differently abled son. Of course the guy that has a fling also has a very understanding and tolerant family. If I brought home a new fling while my hubby was out of town my mother would tear me to shreds not bond with him over washing the dishes. Of course this is gay cinema so there is a couple of brief flashes of cock in it, even from the ever so accepting straight brother.

Remember when planking was really cool for about 5 minutes a couple of months ago? That was until people started losing their jobs and falling off buildings and moving cars doing it. There are a few hardy souls that have kept it a bit interesting for me.

These guys are all doing it nude! I’m still trying to work out why hot fit guys won’t even nude up in the gym change room but they will for a photo in public doing something daft? Not complaining, just curious.

Hiram is one of our favourite straight boys here on Aussielicious. He’s contributed to the Self Portrait challenge a while back and last year took part in the AussieBum fitness challenge. Yesterday he emailed me with an update on what he’s been up to, including getting married and going to Hawaii with his lovely bride for their honeymoon. Congratulations Hiram.

Hiram also sent in this new self portrait. It’s lovely isn’t it? This blog is always open to contributions like this from readers but keep it nice boys. No hard ons, no sex, just great photos!

I love the idea of exhibitionism, but I’m not very brave. This guy, apparently is very brave. This video is over six minutes of him stripping in the street, standing on a public bench, jumping up and down and oiling up his smooth nude muscled body. Then he takes his oiled up hotness for a walk through the streets. Love it.

One of the lastest updates on Dylan Rosser’s site The Male Form was a shoot he did with a friend of his. Now Dylan usually refuses to shoot friends because of the possible awkwardness involved in a friend being nude etc.

I have to say, this shoot with Ali is one of my favourites that Dylan has ever posted. Maybe it’s the location versus the studio shoot but there is something beautiful about this series.

How did you get started in photography?
It was a very gradual process. I started by shooting profile pics for guys to use on a popular UK gay dating site. As my work improved I moved on to shooting models and escorts and it all just grew from there. I never trained in photography and still sometimes feel like a beginner even after a decade.

Were you always drawn to photographing the male form?
I was, and still am, that nerdy skinny geek from school who realised I was never gonna get to hang with the muscle guys so I guess this was my only way to finally see them naked.

Your style is quite distinctive. Was that a natural style for you or something you worked towards deliberately?
I don’t think any photographer really goes out of their way to create a distinctive style. It is just born out of whatever influences appealed to me while growing up and maybe my design background has led me to always keep things simple and minimal.

You seem to have a knack for finding rather genitally blessed men. Do you ever get people asking you to enhance that part of them in photoshop?
I like to create a fantasy man so a big dick is often part of that. Models want to look as big as they can so they realise they need to “fluff” it up a bit and try keep it in between soft and hard. I’ve had guys get hard then tie an elastic around the base to keep it big. Then I can just remove the elastic in photoshop. But I do sometimes enhance the size as well. But it need to have that nice semi erect shape to start with.

Would it be fair to assume that the more endowed guys would be more willing to display it?
They might be more willing to show their dick but often they don’t want to show their face. At the end of the day I’m looking for the complete package. Excuse the pun.

You are starting a new digital magazine showcasing other people’s photography. Were you at all worried about promoting other photographers in a fiercely competitive market?
I think there is more competition in the fashion field. Male nude photographers seems to do their own thing, quietly trying to make some money by selling prints and books. I’m more than happy to bring attention to these guys and hopefully promote their work.

What are you hoping to achieve with the magazine?
The term “male nude” in magazines seems to have developed negative connotations. I’m hoping to show that you can have a publication full of male nudity and for it to still be tasteful. My dream is that models and photographers will want to be featured in it because of the way it is presented. I have managed to combine my magazine background, design and photography into one project. There is one rule however – NO fashion!

Will TMF Magazine be a subscription based publication or a free online magazine?
It will cost $3.99 for this issue. I would like to do more but it all depends on how this one does. It took 2 months of my life and a lot of cash for the software so it’s never going to be something I just churn out every month. Maybe if I can get some advertisers for a next issue it will bring the cost down but for now I think it is a fair price.

How have you selected the photographers that you’ve included?
The main interview features are with guys I personally know and who were happy to help me out with this first issue. I’m hoping other talent will want to be included now that they can get a better idea what TMF Magazine is about.

How often will you be publishing TMF?
I want to see how the first one does before I commit to another issue. Possibly every couple months seems like a more realistic goal. Now it is up to photographers and models to get in touch if they have something to promote.

You’ve recently posted some stunning shots of a friend on your site TheMaleForm.net. How did you find the experience of shooting a good friend nude?

I usually have a rule about never photographing friends. For me it’s weird to see my friends naked even if they ask really nicely I try find an excuse not to do it.

You shoot in both the U.S. and the U.K. Do you find there is a different attitude with the guys in both continents?
Definitely. It’s much easier to find guys that will do full frontal in London. There are so many people travelling through there and nudity is not such a big deal in Europe. I sometimes find the LA and NYC models more flirty but at the same time less willing to do full frontal. Especially in LA where they want to protect their future acting careers.

Having stunning men nude, often semi or fully aroused in front of you all the time, do you find you’ve become desensitised to that kind of beauty?
It’s always a bit of a thrill the first time the model gets naked, but that last a few seconds and then I’m more concerned about getting good shots and I kinda forget that he is naked. I do get to see a lot of naked guys but compared to what some of people get up to on the gay scene I’m sure they get to see and touch a lot more.

What advice would you have for aspiring photographers out there?
Thanks to digital photography anyone can have go and take time to practice without the expensive cost of film. Join a site like modelmayhem.com and start networking with people in your area.

I was chatting to a friend this evening and said I was going to blog and thought I might find something to do with naked men for a change. It turns out I have nothing to write about naked men, so thought I’d share this rather blatantly gratuitous video instead.

A recent article sent to me by several of my friends (can’t imagine why) argues the likelihood that we’ll ever see our sporting competitions regularly undertaken nude. One young man is rowing across the Indian Ocean and doing it nude, there are routinely nude rugby matches in New Zealand these days and I’d hazard a guess that it is far from unheard of to see drunken sporting teams having a rowdy nude match.

The term gymnos that gymnasium and gymnastics are derived from literally means to exercise nude and we all know that in the Ancient (original and the best?) version of the Olympics were competed nude. As I’ve discussed on here before there are some sports that to be done nude would be probably a bad idea, but lots of them would be great. Surely tv audiences would be up?

Tony is a sweet southern gentleman from Tennessee whose been blogging for some time now, firstly at Large Tony and now at West of Mayberry. He writes with tenderness and eloquence about his life and the people in it.

By not being able to understand the dialogue in a video it completely changes the meaning of the piece. I’m guessing from the title, which translates to “Anatomy of Failure” that the dialogue is quite dark, that’s just a guess, yet the video to me was a fun video of fairly liberated people sharing a shower cubicle with one or two other people, sometimes of the same sex, sometimes of the opposite sex.

I like that they are all very “real” bodies. There are a couple of muscle guys in the far right shower later in the video but by and large all the people in this video are just regular people of a variety of shapes and sizes.
