In my mining the clouds post below I mentioned a young 19 year old in the U.S. that contacted me about the video that caused so much scandal last week. I have to say he sounds like a very down to earth and level headed young man.

He was shown this blog by his college roommate who is also a nudist. Hi guys! From his emails I’ve gathered that they are both very sporty and active and apparently sports teams are still, even in these increasingly prudish times, prone to getting their clothes off without much provocation.

While male bonding involving nudity can get people in trouble, just ask the St Kilda AFL club today, surely it’s healthy for young guys to see each other nude. Especially in a non sexual way. If young guys, and girls, don’t see other people naked it’s got to lead to very warped views on what is normal or strange. The world we live in is putting so much pressure on us to look a certain way and creating a lot of body image issues, that I think we really do need to see the real world.

It’s really nice to hear that there are 19 year olds out there not doing strange acrobatics to get dressed under a towel at the gym and in their dorm rooms. The guy that emailed me actually told me that their dorm is getting more nude with he and his room mate there to inspire them.

Summer feels like it has finally hit here in Sydney after a wildly unpredictable Spring. Parts of Queensland are flooding badly but here in Sydney it’s been blazing sunshine. Oprah is in town and I didn’t quite realise just how much influence she has to be able to turn on 30 degree (celsius) days without a cloud in the sky.

So I’m thinking it might be time for the first cheeky skinnydip of the season. Perhaps next week in the lead up to Christmas. Anyone coming?

A couple of people asked which nudist sites I’m on. One I drop by most days is Hangoutnude.com which has a much higher percentage than average of gay men on it. To the point that I’m surprised when I see a female profile on there. There are straight guys too and it’s not supposed to be a cruising site.

Another one I’ve joined up to recently but haven’t really used much is kinkykooky which is offiliated with nudistfriends I think.

After hanging out last week with my nude curious new straight mate and discussing his shyness increasing as he grew older probably due to the increase of private showers at gyms and other things I was just wondering how many people would still use gym showers if they went back to being open or communal showers?

In Australia, the last decade or possibly two has seen most gyms convert to private shower stalls rather than the open shower set up of times gone by. Places like surf life saving clubs that don’t renovate very often still have the open showers in a lot of instances. I’m assuming Australia, as usual, was following the lead of countries like the U.S. in increasing the privacy in locker rooms. I’m not sure of what Europe does generally speaking or the U.K.

Out of curiosity, would you shower at the gym if the showers were open plan? God knows I would. That’s not a surprise to anyone.

Today is a day of nudity in various forms with hopefully some successful creativity thrown in.

This afternoon I’m shooting a very good looking young man for my exhibition and he’s going to end up filthy with what I have planned. This time I’ve tested the technique and it is going to work. His boyfriend is going to be in the studio too. I’m not used to working with an audience but it will be fine. Hell, if he’s got the right look I’ll see if I can talk him out of his gear and into the shot too.

This evening a bunch of nudie mates and I are having a combined nude birthday party for myself and another friend. There are only about 8-10 of us but it should be a great laugh.

Once again I’m taking off for the weekend to go camping at River Island. There are a few of us going this time with a fourth joining us for the day tomorrow. It’s so peaceful there I can’t wait. It’s a beautiful spot to wander along the trails and by the river, all nude.

Tonight I caught up with a guy I’ve been chatting to on a nudist website and we went for a soak at the asian style baths here in Sydney. The guy is happily married and totally straight and is in the process, with some gentle nudging from his wife of losing some of his uptight tendencies.

He’s been fairly shy about nudity during his adult life after being fairly liberal about it during his teens. We discussed how that came about and he thought that when gyms started having separate showers and things became less open he closed up along with it.

Tonight was one of his first times dipping his toe in the social nudity waters and it was very relaxed and easy. What impressed me most was the fact that he had no problem whatsoever with hanging out nude with a gay man. He realised that he’s comfortable enough to deal with any unwanted advances easily and without fuss and it wouldn’t be a problem. Of course I wasn’t ever going to make any advances but it’s always nice to know that there are straight men out there who don’t care.

He’s also determined to raise his four children not to be ashamed of nudity or embarrassed by it in any way and to try and instill a confidence and self assured nature in his children. Tolerant people raise tolerant kids.

Sailing around the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland or the Greek Islands or the coast of Croatia is a holiday I’ve always wanted to do. Get the right people, that you can stand being on a boat with for an extended time, hopping from island to island, having bonfires on deserted beaches, skinny dipping and sunbathing naked for a week or two or three, sounds like absolute bliss to me. These photos look like a lot of fun. The girls obviously weren’t up for stripping off but the boys seem to have taken any opportunity.

The adult son of one of my readers has a job on the luxury boat of an immensely wealthy family sailing around the world. Whenever they aren’t in port the family and all the staff wear the same uniform, absolutely nothing. That’s right the lucky staff get to go to work on an enormous luxury boat and get to work nude sailing to glamorous locations around the world. Just how DO you get that job?

The way I feel about my job right now I could easily take off and drop out and work like that for a while.

Hi peeps. Once again I’m heading out of town as soon as I finish this post. I’ve got a couple of nights in Kangaroo Valley with some friends which will be beautiful and relaxing then a night with my parents which is always great. So there won’t be any posts til I get back on Monday.

For those of you who do the social nudity thing I have a question. When you are hanging out on the beach nude with friends, or around a pool, camping, wherever, if one of your mates pulled out a camera would you be ok with it? Would you let your photo be taken?

A couple of my nude mates were at Turtle Cove resort in Nth Queensland last weekend and they did notice some people had cameras. Nothing was said, no permission was asked nor did my friends say anything to the people with cameras whom they didn’t know.

When I was camping nude a few months ago a couple of shots were taken but the guy taking them asked and only used the non-frontal ones anywhere public. That I don’t mind, especially if I know the people I’m in the group with and know that they won’t use the photos incriminatingly.

So… what’s your verdict?

Every young boy has giggled over or stared at photos of naked tribes of various cultures because they, for most people are the first naked people we see outside of possibly our own family.

It raises an interesting question, that these tribes, in different pockets of the world, are still living naked as they have done for centuries, aside from those “saved” by western culture and religion. Shame about the naked body is clearly a taught response. In western cultures, or “civilised” cultures we are taught that beyond a certain age long before puberty, nudity is shameful and something to be hidden. It’s naughty, taboo and people that go nude are strange, yet somehow we teach our children that some cultures in Africa or the Amazon and lots of other places that walk around nude totally free of shame and embarrassment because they are a tribe, that it’s ok.

It’s sad to say that I think the U.S. is leading the conservative way, blurring even the most remote hint of butt crack on Survivor proving that you have to be a REAL tribe to get away with it and not a reality tribe. The U.S. sets the trend for a large part of the world in most things, fingers crossed the European attitude holds firm on this one.

Recently I posted about my need to get away for some time off. I don’t think any time off work is going to happen but I think maybe I’ll take myself off for a night’s camping. Maybe I’ll even go to the place where we nude camped but maybe not. I figure if there’s no chance of being nude due to the weather then I might just go to any old camping spot and chill for a couple of days doing sweet bugger all.

I can’t wait for it to warm up so that nude camping is an option again. It was so much fun. My nudie mates are talking about trying to get away in about October for a nude camping weekend but one couple are very hard to book in as they are busy people. Having said that, they are hosting a combined nude birthday party for one of them, myself and another nude mate. Should be a hoot.

Chris here is a reader from L.A. and someone I’ve chatted to on hangoutnude.com. He sent me these two pics from his first foray into the Angeles Forest wilderness last weekend. Looks like a beautiful spot to explore nude and Chris tells me that he met quite a few nice guys there and hung out with them all day. Perfect! Thanks for sharing Chris.

It’s amazing to see the difference in levels of prudishness and censorship around the world. In the U.S. a contestants hint of bum crack on Survivor gets blurred out, but in New Zealand they post video on official news sites of the Annual Nude Rugby match complete with full frontal action!
