I don’t know what the total story is behind this piece on So You Think You Can Dance but it sure looks like a gay breakup or close friends falling out over sexuality or something. It’s a beautiful routine.

As a photographer and someone who is remotely involved in performing arts these photos by Yang Wang are breathtaking in their beauty. Taking an instant out of the context it was in and capturing it on film can often lead to awkward poses frozen in time. It’s very easy to make the body look awkward but so much harder to capture the grace and control of dance in that instant the shutter opens.
Yang Wang has done a beautiful job with these male dancers, capturing their control and spectacular definition alongside beautiful simple portraits. Thanks to a reader with good taste for bringing me these shots via Homotography
Born in Buenos Aires, the Tango is a dance full of fire and passion, oozing sex and bravado. Three2Tango is a new production choreographed by and starring William Centurion. Will was a contestant on this year’s season of So You Think You Can Dance Australia.
Will has had training all over the world in dance and performance and is a passionate performer with a sexy body honed through hours and hours of dancing. His show Three2Tango is about to be staged again at Slide Bar. According to the website Three2Tango has “reinvented the Argentine tango, using sex, seduction and passionate rhythms to make their mark on this traditional dance form as we know it, maintaining the passion whilst breaking the rules!”
I’ve not long got home from silks class where, this term we are being put through our paces. We are not only learning new tricks, but revisiting old tricks and attempting to do them better.
This is a promotional video from Sydney Dance Company. These people use their bodies in such a beautiful way. The control and discipline these people have is just astonishing. While I will never get there, it’s always good to strive for something and use it as inspiration.
It’s no secret that I really love the work of Aussie born, NYC based photographer James Houston. His asthetic and exquisite style has influenced my photography and caught my eye many years ago now. Today, while out catching up with a friend and wandering around, I ducked into a bookshop that has a lot of good stuff and there it was. Raw Moves was the only book by James that I didn’t have. Raw, One and Move all having sat comfortably on my bookshelf for some time. So when I saw Raw Moves in the shop for a teeny tiny $17, I grabbed it and it’s now in my possession along with the others.
It was shot back in 1997, using Australia’s top 3 dance companies, The Sydney Dance Company, The Australian Ballet and The Bangarra Dance Theatre. Incredibly it was shot in just five days. It just proves that when things are right, they are just right.
Diversity is the group that managed to knock off crowd favourite Susan Boyle to take out the winners prize on Britain’s Got Talent a couple of days ago. I had to check out what they’d done to upset the apple cart and I have to say it’s fantastic. The choreography is clever, sharp and the performance is brilliant.
I’ve been an athletic and sporting person for my entire life. Dabbling in lots of sports, excelling in none but holding my own. Swimming has been the predominant one but there’s been tennis, rowing, gymnastics as well as rock climbing and other bits and pieces.
One thing I’ve never done is have any formal dance lessons and watching So You Think You Can Dance is just so inspiring and beautiful. For people to have that much control over their bodies and to be able to move with such grace is gorgeous and awe inspiring. I will admit to being more drawn to the slightly quirkier routines. Ballroom and Latin do nothing for me.
And his name is Twitch… I don’t know if Twitch is his real name but I’ll call him whatever he wants me to. The man is sexy, funny, smart, cute, cuddly, buff and is a beautiful dancer! I’m jealous of Kerrington because she gets to be lifted in his arms and to dance with him from week to week.
For a guy that is a hip hop dancer, he does this contemporary routine beautifully and looks beautiful in a pair of satin boxers. If I had someone like that in my bed when I woke up, I’d never get to work!
