I’ve long been a fan of Cirque Du Soleil and would love to see more of their shows (sadly missed the latest one to tour) but I own Allegria on DVD and love this performance. It’s so simply presented without too much fuss but with all the danger and spectacle that flying through the air 20 metres up without wires provides.

Yesterday was a very long but very rewarding day for me. I got up at 5.40 to head to the gym for my last session with my training buddy before his wedding next weekend in Byron. Then it was off to work which although not particularly exciting at the moment was a good day. When finishing time came I raced off to Aerialize to teach at the Gay & Lesbian Singles Circus night which was a lot of fun.
After initially being nervous about attendance, we had a full class of 20 people and lots of laughs. The only slight hiccup came when, after thinking we had nice even numbers of boys to match up and girls to match up the realisation hit that one person was probably what is officially known as Intersex… I’m thinking of them as gender-non-specific as I’m not entirely sure what Intersex means. But how do you pair them up? Everyone seemed to have a good time anyway.
Then it was home to meet up with Kieran, my patient, tolerant and enduring new model, who after freezing his bollocks off at the pool a few weeks ago, came back for more. This time we had him wandering around my building carpark nude at 2 am. I hope you like the results. When I look at them close up, they aren’t technically that brilliant but I am really happy with the look and feel of them. Finally at 3 am I fell asleep in my bed.
I can’t believe I’ve let another summer go past without getting out there and going camping. I’ve wanted to do it for the last few years but still haven’t managed it. Part of the problem is that I’m so keen to go somewhere that nudity is possible that I’ve probably missed other good opportunities. I go and read the Scenicboys blog and they have so much fun out in the wilderness.
Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on the posting this week. I’m still not feeling 100% and I seem to be busy as ever. Tomorrow night is the singles circus class which we are still looking for more participants, then late tomorrow night I’m shooting Kieran again. It’s going to be a very different location but hopefully just as successful a shoot. He’s such a patient and forgiving model coming back after I nearly froze him to death.
I posted a while back about the gay singles circus class that was happening. It’s happening this friday. They still have a few spots left so if you are in Sydney and are a gay boy or girl between 25 and 40 (there’s probably some leeway on this) come along for a few hours of fun with a dj and a some drinks afterwards.
Head on over to the Aerialize site to download the form to register and come along, it’s going to be great fun. I’m helping teach. Fingers crossed there will be some hotties that aren’t people I’ve dragged along!
I’ve posted this video ages ago on the old incarnation of Aussielicious but that video was deleted. I’ve found it again today and finally have the name of the guy who performs this stunning routine. He is David O’mer. This routine is part of my inspiration to work hard at aerials.
David makes it look so easy and beautiful but some of the stuff in this routine is exceptionally hard. I’ve tried the move were he rolls upward winding the straps around his arms. Not only does it take a lot of strength but you need to build up tolerance to a lot of pain as it brutalises your arms as you roll. I’ve never actually made even one roll.
The fact that he’s all wet and in a bath makes this routine even hotter and his body is beautiful from years of training. I don’t know if he does any other routines, but he travels with La Clique performing this routine all around the world and it’s obviously a favourite with the crowds.
This was one of my major inspirations for starting aerials classes. I’ve always loved Cirque Du Soleil since I first saw Saltimbanco live in Sydney several years ago but these guys just blew me away. Sadly I missed seeing Varekai live when it toured here not too long ago.
The fact that they are hot twins certainly doesn’t hurt their cause.
This guy has performed at the Sydney Festival for the last couple of years and consistently sold out. Now I know why. I’d seen the promo shot of a muscular hot guy in a bath in his jeans with water flying from his hair but hadn’t seen anything more. This is a way to make aerials even sexier and there’s a few moves in this that I want to try with silks!
