For eight weeks I’ve been working from home and for seven of those I’ve had very limited socially distant and responsible contact with people in the real world. On Friday here in New South Wales the restrictions were eased a tiny bit to include being able to have two adults over for social contact, still distancing.

So on Friday night two friends that I would normally see for dinner once a week or at least once a fortnight, came over for dinner to hang out and catch up. Then last night I went to my sister’s place and had dinner with her and my brother-in-law and niece and nephew. Both nights were very low key and simple but exactly what I needed.

It’s amazing what that simple, easy human interaction has done for my mood today, even though it’s a cold Monday with some frustrations at work. Fingers crossed the easing of restrictions doesn’t lead to people being reckless and a spike in cases again. That would just mean even longer lockdowns. I’d almost rather take it really slowly getting back to normal and just do it once and do it well.
