Sweat it out

A while back I posted about a rumour I’d heard that someone was starting a chain of clothing optional gyms. Some of you expressed concern about hygiene. To be honest, it should be no different to a regular gym. You have to work out with a towel on the equipment already so it will be no less safe.

Well I can now report a bit more information. I’ve been in touch with the guy who is opening the gyms. They are men only gyms as he felt like women had women only space but we don’t so it was a gap in the market. I haven’t had any full details yet whether it will be clothing optional times or separate clothed and nude areas.

What I do know is that the website will be up early in the new year and gyms are already close to opening in New York, London and here in Australia. I can’t wait. It will be interesting to see what the market will be like and the public response but I do know that I’ll be giving it a go!

I don’t go to the gym, but if this opened – I’d love to go!

Also, 1,3 and 5 guy are bloody hot!

I’d go, I’ve worked out naked a few times, always do yoga naked. I’m not sure there’s a market, so few young guys will get naked in the locker room, I can’t see them working out naked.

I’ve worked out nude in a few gyms. I remember using, in the 1990′s an outdoor gym set up on the beach in the naturist quarter of Cap d’Agde. Sanitation etc is NOT an issue. Most use a a larger towel and wipe down after a set.
In regards to attracting a younger crowd,it really depends on how proffesionally these new gyms are run, by that I mean making it a true naturist/nudist space. Young guys don’t want a bunch on old guys standing around and just watching them.

I’d be certainly curious to go to the Nude Gym but I have a hunch that the mirrors would be getting most of the work-out!

I’d give it a shot. I’m skinny but being a nudey who doesn’t get to do nudey things often enough, it would almost certainly motivate me to keep the habit up to get results quicker.

Too bad that City Gym on Crown Street wasn’t clothing optional when I worked out there in the 1980s.

Nat: I am pretending the use of the word ‘old’ was an accident. Leering pervs come in all ages. I am an older guy, who is not in the best shape (I try, but time is a cruel bitch), but still loves the nude beaches. I don’t like being leered at by ANYONE. Poor social behavior knows no age. :)

@JimmyD. Of course bad behaviour knows no age, but I’m afraid it’s a fact of life that the MAJORITY of young guys don’t mind young guys leering at them, but do mind old guys leering at them. It’s not a judgement call on age. When I was in my 20′s I knew the difference between a flattering look and someone body just perving out, you can feel the difference. I would even go as far to say that when some men get older and realize life is moving by quickly they get more brazen and take the chances that they didn’t when younger.

In a different era of gay history these were more commonly known as bath houses, where one went to do a lot of activities, showering and bathing being the least of the activities performed while there.
