I promised

I was chatting to a friend this evening and said I was going to blog and thought I might find something to do with naked men for a change. It turns out I have nothing to write about naked men, so thought I’d share this rather blatantly gratuitous video instead.

The pressure is on.

As long time readers of this blog would know, I’m quite good at stressing myself out at times. Some of those times are understandable and others are completely unnecessary. I’m currently under a couple of bits of stress. Money stress is apparently never far away but not a huge concern. I have a decent salary but live in an expensive city.

One thing I’m stressing about at the moment is working on the Aussielicious book which will hopefully be ready to soon. That stress is a good one. I want to put out a book that I am proud of and that people will be happy to buy and enjoy.

The other stress is that I’ve been handed an opportunity to do a couple of VERY high profile interviews for this blog and I want to make sure that doesn’t go to waste. I’m talking A-List. One of them won’t be til the end of the year but will hopefully be face to face (dying!!!). The other one will be via email as per usual but will be relatively soon. Now… I just need to work out what to ask. No, I’m not saying who.

I wonder

In all my excitement about coming to Burning Man in 3 months time I kinda keep forgetting that I’m also coming to New York City and finally ticking off seeing what I expect to be an incredible city. I have no long list of things to see in NYC. There are the usual suspect like The Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Empire State etc, but for the most part I plan on walking. Walking til my feet ache when I can sit and watch the world walking past at a cafe.

The video below is a movie someone put together to express their joy at the NYC Skyline. It’s a beautiful little video but if I see something quite like this, I’ve partied way harder than is the norm for me at Burning Man.

It’s a kilty pleasure

I’m not someone that is turned on by certain types of clothes. Leather and fetish wear does nothing for me. Speedos do nothing for me. Lycra, nothing. Any of those items on the right guy certainly don’t detract from his hotness but they don’t really enhance it for me.

What I do love is the chance of seeing something you aren’t supposed to. It’s an age old thing. Tell someone that something is off limits and that’s all they want to see or do. In Victorian times men used to stand on the street watching women step up on to the curb just in case they got a glimpse of ankle. Saucy isn’t it?

For me a kilt is always an opportunity for a glimpse and we always ask what the guy is wearing underneath don’t we? Staged photos of seeing up a kilt don’t work for me but guys giving a cheeky flash in the street or somewhere they aren’t supposed to always makes me look, and laugh. Let’s face it, I’m a voyeur and there’s not as much fun in looking at something if it’s handed to you on a platter.

Ski Camp! Episode 1.

After teasing us months ago the gang that brought us Surf Camp a while back have just released episode 1 of “Ski Camp”. 6 gays, 2 ski’s each and I’m sure a barrel of laughs. Fingers crossed there’ll be hot tub shenanigans. Wait. I know lots of these guys so scratch that last bit.

It looks like they had a lot of fun!

Making magic and happy birthday!

Yesterday, all day, a crew of about 10 and a cast of 350 volunteers filmed the music video for “Magic” by Olivia Newton-John. Unfortunately Olivia couldn’t be there, but Dan Murphy is editing the footage now to put together what will no doubt be a great video.

At the end of the day, about half the cast stuck around to film a quick happy birthday message to Kylie Minogue. I know I’m a day late now, but Happy Birthday Kylie!!! I can’t wait to see the Aphrodite show in a little over a week.

Are we ready to go back?

A recent article sent to me by several of my friends (can’t imagine why) argues the likelihood that we’ll ever see our sporting competitions regularly undertaken nude. One young man is rowing across the Indian Ocean and doing it nude, there are routinely nude rugby matches in New Zealand these days and I’d hazard a guess that it is far from unheard of to see drunken sporting teams having a rowdy nude match.

The term gymnos that gymnasium and gymnastics are derived from literally means to exercise nude and we all know that in the Ancient (original and the best?) version of the Olympics were competed nude. As I’ve discussed on here before there are some sports that to be done nude would be probably a bad idea, but lots of them would be great. Surely tv audiences would be up?

A revised deadline and still more questions.

Last weekend’s Rapture didn’t happen and the man that was courteous enough to warn us all about it is as stunned as we are. Helpfully he’s revised his prediction to the 31st of October saying that last weekend was God’s deadline to make his decisions about who steps on the gilded escalator to heaven and who slides down the scorching slippery slide to hell and October’s REAL Rapture is when we get dispatched to either destination.

Let me get this straight. God has now decided who has been good and who has been bad, just like Santa and has chosen Halloween to send us on our way? It really does put some pressure on our Halloween costumes for this year. You don’t want to put some angel wings on and end up in Hell now do you? You don’t want to dress up as a fallen angel and end up in Heaven. That could be all kinds of awkward. The angels would forever be looking at you with a touch of doubt in their eyes.

The five month window to find redemption is a little concerning also. I’ve been wandering around committing a fair few sins for nearly 38 years now and while I’ve tried to be good most of the time surely it’s going to take a bit longer to redeem myself, especially since I now have a boyfriend and we are committing acts of sin and reveling in our abomination status on a relatively regular basis.

Very nice to see

This situation may well have been staged for cameras but it’s very refreshing to see the genuine reactions of those unaware of the setup. This means even more considering it was in Texas, a state that isn’t renowned for being the most of liberal areas.

Let’s not speak of today ever again.

Today has been one of those days where you need an eject button or a reset button so you can just abort it and start again tomorrow.

After a really bad night’s sleep at my boyfriend’s I left to go to work and my car wouldn’t start so I waited an hour and a half for roadside assistance who came and gave it a jump start. Once I got to work we had the full compliment of irritatingly eccentric (as opposed to fun eccentric) freelancers in who proceeded to uphold my rationale that there is a reason they don’t have a full time role. Finally at the end of the (cold and wet) day, I got in my car only for it to not start again. So I then proceeded to sit and wait another hour and pay $235 for the battery to be replaced. On a positive note, I did make sure the new battery was completely charged when I sat in traffic barely moving at walking pace for the trip home.

Delightful. Now can I go relax somewhere warm where clothing isn’t required and the sun shines every day in a land free of crazy people?

Amazing pole dance routine

A friend of mine put me on to this amazing routine today, by a pole dancer called Evgeny Greshilov. His strength and flexibility are amazing and it’s just a cool sexy routine.

It’s fluid and flexible.

Despite being a gay, nudist, blogging, circus student essentially I’m still a relatively conservative soul at times. I don’t mean in a bible thumping crazy Westboro Baptist kind of way, but my parents are traditional middle class suburban people and I was raised in that environment. I know I’ve challenged some of my mother’s sensibilities at times but I’m no radical.

One thing I’ve noticed in the circus world, and I barely dabble in it, is the broad mindedness of the folks in it. A couple of years ago two different girls at my school, both identifying as lesbian, found themselves in relationships with men. One of those relationships still continues.

Tonight I found out that one of the women in the school has separated from her long term male partner and father of her tween and teenage children and started a relationship with another woman from the school. Her teenage son is really happy for her, her tween-age daughter is struggling.

By dipping your toe in an unexpected area for a mother in a long term relationship, like circus or anything unconventional I think you broaden your horizons a touch, even if just by meeting new kinds of people. The more you delve the broader your horizons. Would she have entered a relationship with a woman eventually anyway? Who knows? I do know that she’s made a decision to leave a situation that hadn’t made her happy in a very long time and created a new one that is making her happy.

Carnies have taught me that like the body, the mind, if stretched and gently massaged will be more flexible too.

And back to class

Last Monday I got stuck at work late and didn’t get to class. The week before I was sick. So it was really good to get there tonight and haul my butt up and down the silks again. There’s a trick we learnt tonight that I really want to master because it has quite a lot of wow factor if it’s done well.

A mate of mine Steven has auditioned for Australia’s Got Talent along with his aerials partner and their routine for the audition was beautiful and elegant and also had a bit of that dangerous wow factor. Enjoy.

Get your MAGIC now!

Olivia Newton-John has made her appearance on Dancing with the Stars and the song is available NOW! The team behind the new version of the song have worked so hard to get this off the ground and they’ve done a great job. I love this new version of Magic. Remember, ALL proceeds (every cent of every sale) goes to Olivia’s Cancer Wellness Centre charity.

Buy the song here. UPDATE: I have found out that the song at this stage is only available in Australia and New Zealand.

Bronte Beach… it’s beautiful

Bronte Beach in Sydney was the beach I considered my territory when I first moved to Sydney. It’s where I spent hundreds of hours each summer patrolling with the Surf Life Saving Club, rowing surfboats, perving on guys (pretending I was perving at girls), swimming and loving the lifestyle. I don’t go there much any more because they tend to frown on my naked tendencies but it’s a gorgeous beach and I think this video pretty much sums it up.
