Monthly Archive for January, 2011

6 days to go.

The alcohol is all ordered, the aussieBum clad barmen are organised and there’s not a lot left to do. This time next Tuesday I will be a nervous wreck but very excited at the same time.

A couple of readers have commented that they are hoping to come along on opening night. Unfortunately due to the size restrictions of the gallery I have to keep the opening night by invitation. It’s just not a big gallery space. I really appreciate the support of you all and would love you to come along to see the exhibition.

I will be at the gallery on both of the Saturday’s that the exhibition is running. It is open from 11am – 4pm on Saturdays and I will be there from around 1.30 if you’d like to come along and chat.

Crossing a line

I am a member of several nudist yahoo groups, stemming back from the days of the public nudity challenge here on the blog and they are a great source of images for Aussielicious. A reader recently emailed me about one of our common yahoo groups and some of the content.

He and I are both a little concerned that the group sometimes has a tendency to quite young guys in photos. I know that some of you were concerned with a video I posted on here which I promptly removed. The nature of the photos that are being circulated themselves is very innocent, but the comments made on them by some group members has me quite concerned. One photo this morning was of three young men who would have been 16 at most. The photo was the three young men nude standing innocently together. Their age was a concern for me, but one group member commented “how erotic it was” and that it was “such a shame they have to get old”.

Sure, aging and losing ones looks is a bit rough at times, but talking about the eroticism of the photo which he was projecting onto an otherwise innocent image, and immediately associating that eroticism with their youth immediately rang alarm bells for me.

I wholeheartedly believe that children should be brought up to feel no shame about their bodies, but with people commenting like that about something that is perfectly innocent, it’s no wonder that there is a backlash against any kind of communal or social nudity.

Some sports more nude than others?

From a practicality perspective or a danger perspective, some sports are much more nude friendly than others. Rugby at first glance would seem a bit hazardous, but those guys always seem to be stripping off. Maybe it’s more of a camaraderie thing that overcomes any normal limitations.

Rowing is a sport that seems to encourage nudity although having done rowing, your junk could get caught between your legs which could be a bit risky. I know when I was rowing surf boats, at the time the nude surfing competition was being held annually in Bondi, my crew and I were going to row nude into the middle of the competition one year. Due to a complete lack of surf where we’d been competing we figured the competiton would abandoned so accordingly abandoned plans to row into it. Sadly for us, they did have the competition and we missed our chance.

One of Australia’s Olympic gold medal winning rowing crews was rumored to have been quite partial to rowing nude back to their home club nude if they were competing on the same stretch of water. Bring back the ancient style of Olympics I say.

School program tackles homophobic bullying!

The NSW Education Minister has announced a $250,000 program to tackle homophobic bullying in schools. In a recent survey it should come as no surprise that many “sexually questioning” youths have been verbally and physically abused because of their sexuality.

Fingers crossed this training, for students and teachers, will help the situation. Read the full article here.

Str8 against H8

Check out this cheeky behind the scenes video of the calendar shoot for “Str8 against H8″. It’s billed as straight dudes take it off so homos can get their rights on, and it’s a good perve.

What is it about Francois?

Francois Sagat is one of those celebrities that people either love or hate. There’s not a lot of middle ground. I quite like the fact that he’s prepared to play with the image of his masculinity with pink patent leather jock straps, kooky outfits or body paint. I’m not sure I get his head tattoo, but I do get why he’s sick of answering questions about it.

He has taken the cliched image of a porn star and given it a performance art spin in some of his personal video pieces and photography collaborations. Maybe that’s why people don’t like him. Perhaps it screws up their porn fantasy, but you have to admit, he definitely intrigues people.

A gift that gives back!

If any of you are wondering what to give your special fella for Valentine’s, maybe something red and sexy from aussieBum is the go? Just a suggestion. Here’s a bit of a reminder of what they have on offer. Just think how much fun you’ll have taking them off.

Two guys, two poles

Eike is in danger of becoming a regular on this blog. Partly because he’s hot, but mostly because he does stunning routines. This is a routine he’s performed with another acrobat. Not only is it dangerous, but it’s very clever and very well done. Love it.

Polar Bear Run

A reader sent me this video of University of Chicago’s Polar Bear Run. I’m not sure if it’s an annual event or not but it looks like fun. I do think it’s cheating a bit to run in underwear. It may be cold but you aren’t showing anything you wouldn’t at the beach in summer so I say let the nudies get the attention!

A decision has been made

A couple of weeks ago I announced I was going to have a silent auction at my exhibition opening night and that I was going to donate the proceeds to charity. Several readers commented that he charity I was going to donate to wasn’t worthy of the donation and was very poor in the way they help the LGBT community.

After much consideration, keeping in mind the theme of the exhibition, I’ve decided that the charity that will be receiving the proceeds of the silent auction will be Twenty10. I’ve had a little bit of contact with the organisation and I know that they offer vital support to LGBT youth. Now let’s hope we raise some good money for them.

You want to watch?

Today I received a message on a dating site that I have a profile on that threw me for a bit but the more I think about it the less weird it gets. My profile clearly states that I am gay but this message was from a woman. Unlike other sites where spammers don’t seem to read or care that they are fundamentally not in my target market, this woman knew exactly what I was after. What she wanted was to watch.

At first I thought, that’s bloody arrogant, but then I thought, the woman has a thing for watching guys together. It turns her on and she wants to see it live, not on porn. I get it, I’m a bit of a voyeur and at times an exhibitionist. I haven’t replied but I can’t offer her the services she requires.

There is one aspect of her message that does still annoy me and it’s the fact that she wants to get approval of the other guy that I’m with too. Sorry honey, they haven’t been lining up on my doorstep so I can’t offer you a buffet of bonking beefcake.

Reflections of Chris

Andy Houghton is a photographer that has just released a series of images called “Reflections of Youth” which include some images of an internet mate of mine Chris. Chris has featured on the pages of aussielicious before and also has his own blog Supersize Chris.

Chris looks fantastic in these shots and indeed, in most of the shots that I’ve seen and I was hoping to shoot him myself soon as he was toying with the idea of moving to Australia for a while but it seems he’s found himself a new boyfriend and will probably stay in the U.K. Oh well.

Jonathon wins the ab Challenge!

Jonathon is one of the most dedicated guys I know when it comes to achieving results with his body. I’ve watched him completely transform himself over the past few years. One night we’d been out and we couldn’t drive home until he’d eaten his scheduled meal… at half past midnight.

Jonathon narrowly beat out Shannon for the crown in the aussieBum Challenge but as we all know, gay men seem to like some beefcake. Congratulations Jonathon!

Gay surfers catch up tomorrow!!!

Don’t forget, any of you who are surfers or aspiring surfers and are in or near Sydney over the weekend, Thomas from GaySurfers has organised a surf and a catch up tomorrow at Bondi!

The plan is, if you’ve registered on the GaySurfers site, to meet near the showers and skatepark at the southern end of Bondi Promenade for a surf at 10 am. Then at 12.30 everyone is meeting at the Bondi FM Cafe (2/143 Curlewis Street) to have some lunch and drinks. It should be a great way to meet other gay surfers.

PS. No it’s not a nude surfing event. I just liked the images.

How’s that working for you?

On the nudist site that I log on to most, Hang Out Nude, you can post what is almost like a facebook status that pops up on the main page. There are two guys that post the same thing almost every day. One of them posts his yahoo screen name asking if anyone wants to chat on cam. I think he’s somewhere in the U.S. The other is a Sydney guy that I’ve actually blocked because he was looking at my profile every single day. He posts that he’s in a certain area of Sydney and asks if anyone wants to hang out nude.

I’m guessing that they post the same thing every day for one of two reasons. One, it works for them or two, because they just don’t learn from repeated failure. I am dying to know, but given that the Sydney one creeps me out (I’ve seen him at my local nude beach and he’s a starer) I’m not going to encourage contact.
