Would you?

For those of you who do the social nudity thing I have a question. When you are hanging out on the beach nude with friends, or around a pool, camping, wherever, if one of your mates pulled out a camera would you be ok with it? Would you let your photo be taken?

A couple of my nude mates were at Turtle Cove resort in Nth Queensland last weekend and they did notice some people had cameras. Nothing was said, no permission was asked nor did my friends say anything to the people with cameras whom they didn’t know.

When I was camping nude a few months ago a couple of shots were taken but the guy taking them asked and only used the non-frontal ones anywhere public. That I don’t mind, especially if I know the people I’m in the group with and know that they won’t use the photos incriminatingly.

So… what’s your verdict?

All depends on who is taking them….if I know them or not. If I did NOT know the person, I’d ask them to stop. I’m just not that shy or care that much. It happened to me just yesterday — I had a buddy that I shot a few pics of with my own phone….he never asked me to “get rid of them” or anything else. And he didn’t mind me taking them. Having said that I would not want nude of me on the internet for general purpose viewing. (I think that I’m just a camera whore and actually get off on being photographed…..!!…Shh, don’t tell anybody….)

Can’t complain if doing the naked bike ride as there are thousands of photographers there in London. Friends take piccies all the time when we are nude socially, but friends are friends and they know facebook won’t accept them anyway lol. I am totally at ease with my body and if my dick is on line so what, people are not really interested as there are so many photo online anyway

Public beach – don’t have much say or choice about who’s pointing a camera where. Private resort – I’d expect to be asked. It’s not that I care who sees me naked in reality, but my employer’s Code of Conduct means I could lose my career if a distinguishable full frontal appears in the wrong place online. Given that sites like Facebook can let the general public discover your mates, I’d have to have a very high level of trust in their discretion, and that’s only likely to happen if I know they have the same employer.

Difficulty is that if you’re in a public place you may not have any rights to stop someone taking pic. I know that;s the case in the UK and Australia, but you do have to ask in France (as far I know). I suppose you’d just need to look at any country where Google Street View is in action – it’s not a legal requirement that they blur faces.

I frequented a nude beach (The Ledges, in Vermont) when I lived near there 25+ years ago, and a few of the regulars took pictures of me and I didn’t mind at all (they didn’t ask — I assumed they knew I didn’t care). I trusted them, but then I knew them, and the Internet hadn’t yet been invented. I’m unsure how I’d react today. I haven’t really engaged in social nudity much since I got married and raising kids (although as a newly empty-nester, I might find time for it again, if I can find locations near me that allows unaccompanied married men).

The younger generation appears to be very prudish (I don’t even shower at my gym because of how prudish all the men there appear to be, and I don’t want to bother doing “the towel dance” just to fit in with the culture there), but with the omnipresence of cell phone cameras and people posting casual photos online, I assume that eventually no one will think anything of a photo of a nude person casually going about their business getting dressed or enjoying the sun.
