A clarification

A couple of readers have commented on my “before” post saying that I should be more realistic etc about trying to look like an aussieBum model. I’m going to clarify my goals for you. A few years ago I did pose for aB and was very slack in preparation. For this challenge, the goal is to look how I should have looked for that shoot. I am not trying to look like Toby or Andreas. Andreas is genetically blessed and works in the fitness industry. I could never look like that and have a job like I do.

Yes my motivation is vanity. I want to look like I do in the photos above or possibly a bit better. Clearly I can look like that, as that is me as recently as February this year. The ultimate aim that I hope to achieve from this challenge is to feel a lot healthier and generally better. So my goal is health, my motivation is vanity. I’m a vain man and I always have been. Sadly laziness usually wins out.

Hey B….looking great and all the best for your re-focus effort. Hope you’re able to post some additional tips on diet in addition to actual physical activity.
    Cheers, AJ

I completely understand what you are trying to do and wish you well. I’m not as disciplined with my diet nor my gym routines as I’d like to be and I think that it is an admirable goal you’ve set; one I think you may be closer to achieving than you give yourself credit.

You look great just the way you are. I csn tell you are vain just from the way you write and the things you are innterested in. But you have to realize you are loved by your followers because you are you. I read you every day and always look forwad to your posts.

I was one of the people who suggested focusing your workouts differently and, even after your clarification, stick by my advice… with a caveat. In general, I think that trying to recapture the way one looked a few years ago or to try to get that fitness model look can become a self-defeating exercise (no pun intended). Our bodies change as we age, and fitness models work out and militantly police their diets. The look is not attainable to us mere mortals! LOL. That said, Brenton, after seeing your clarification I don’t think your goal is unattainable. It’s not going to be easy, but as Edina Monsoon said, “Darling, if diet and exercise worked, evenryone would be doing it.” Good luck and post the “after” photos!

Hey Brenton – I totally understand and appreciate why you are doing what you’re doing. I have exactly the same motivation for going to the gym! You’ve got a great starting point to get back into shape so good luck!

I’m with Liam. I’m not sure the look you’re pursuing is attainable, but focusing on overall, long-term fitness and health will make you feel better. If you find something you actually like to do (and you clearly don’t enjoy the gym regimen), you won’t have to force yourself to get off your ass/arse and work out…instead, you’ll overdo it in the workout department and actually have to compel yourself to go to work rather than go to one more yoga class or one more running session or whatever. You’ll like the way you feel. You’ll eat better. You’ll enjoy life more. And you know what, you might be a more interesting, deeper person and other guys will just naturally find that more attractive. Gym bunnies are a dime a dozen, and there will always be someone younger, more muscular, or hotter than you. It gets worse as you get older, so you ought to try to carve out your own identity.

On the other hand, it’s none of my business whatsoever. Good luck with it.

You always look fabulous! However we are all harder on ourselves than we probably need to be ( I am guilt of that!)
I say set whatever goal you want and go for it.
