So here it is. I took my “before” shots this morning and can clearly see why I have been feeling blah lately. I’m as out of shape as I have been in a long time. I’ve been eating rubbish and not exercising properly.
Joining in the challenge (so far, it’s never too late folks) is Richard in the middle and one of our much loved straight readers Hiram. Hiram contributed to the self portrait challenge a few months back and also contributed his cock shots to Pornolicious before I killed it off. Hiram has had a head start on us starting his own fitness overhaul 6 months ago and has already lost 25lb/11kg. He’s looking really good and don’t we love a straight boy who is willing to show us his well groomed junk?
So now, time to get into it, the gym closes in two hours, so I have time.

Out of shape? Where? :-P
You will do really well B – have every faith in you :)
Go go Brenton :-)
I am cheering you guys on!! IF you want tips, let me know! x
Personally, i think you look great.
So this is the new definition of “out of shape”? Ok, how many will join me in my next suicide attempt?
I can not believe i am on the pages of Aussielicious!! OMG
I might not be ‘out of shape’ but i am certainly not in the shape to be an aussibum model.
Tips for bigger arms and pecs please!
Brenton,
You have a great body for a 30-something Aussie guy. :)
You don’t need to change anything. Least of all imitate Hiram. :s
Have you been waxing your chest (wondered why it’s red)??
Brenton, I think you look amazing. I don’t understand why you want to look like an Aussiebum model. That’s what the Aussiebum models are for. Admire without coveting I say.
Looks to me like everything is in the right place and in proper perportion and I am jealous. I can never look in another mirror again!
Brenton, I think yet another gym challenge is always good. However, I would suggest that the goal should be overall health and fitness, not in attempting to make yourself look like a 20-year old underwear model. You write frequently about how tired you feel, how you’re suffering from the flu or a cold or something, and you’re eating rubbish. Doing something other than trying to recapture (or capture) an appearance that is unattainable simply because of where you are chronologically will do you more good in the long run. Running, biking, yoga, and swimming are activities you can do for a lifetime. You’ll lose some weight, lower your blood pressure, and have more energy. I think feeling better feeds on itself, too, and you just naturally eat better as well. You won’t necessarily have huge pecs and body-builder abs, but I would respectfully suggest that for a guy in his mid-30s who works full time and obviously has a lot of interests (photography, travel, etc.), working on long-term fitness is a worthier and somewhat more mature goal.
You look better than most of the guys at my school, seriously. You look like one of the few hot young profs on grounds. If you want to try and get a body similar to the aussiebum guys then go for it. I think that you look perfect but maybe you should just try to build and maintain a base level of fitness. Some cardio or resistance/tone training. Running or swimming or maybe taking up another physical activity besides silks. Either way your still cute, good luck.
I agree with David. You’re in more than fine shape (probably in the top few percent among guys your age). I’m older than you by several years and it took me until my late 30′s to realize I will never have that aussiebum body again (did I ever???). And even if I did get it, I’d never be able to maintain it. One week away from the gym or a couple of indulgences and all that work would be gone. I changed my workout focus to sustainability, which I see as letting my body settle into where it should be naturally, but challenging it to maintain a high degree of fitness. As a result, I do more cardio and fewer weight workouts because I see no point in fighting against the cosmos’ rule that muscle gets harder to build and keep as you hit 40. My goals are keeping my weight within my preferred range, maintaining flexibility, and trying to keep a lower body fat. You know what? I am hitting those goals like I never did when I was in the gym rat race and I’m much happier.
I must say, that here at 53 and quickly heading for 54, that I have to agree with you B! I have to work out to stay happy for two reasons: 1) to stay healthy 2) I am vain. When I had my brain aneurysm, my neurovascular surgeon told me that my superior outcome was at least partially due to my tremendous fitness level. There is no denying that being in great shape prepares one for the best outcomes in unplanned health disasters and diseases. Like you, I want to look my absolute best and for many years this has not been possible because of my recovery from brain surgery. But this year, I have been able to ride my road bike and I am doing some open water snorkeling (up to a mile) and I feel GREAT!. I have my trapeze up, but until my shoulder heals I will not be able to use it, but when it does, I will be working on it and maybe seeing some abs!
