There has been a petition filed in California by the California AIDS Healthcare Foundation to enforce that all porn models wear condoms in their films. With bareback porn being a hugely popular genre it will be a tough one to get through, but while I like watching bareback porn, I wholeheartedly support this move.
As Chi Chi La Rue, porn mogul and safe sex campaigner has stated “When I first started seeing barebacking titles appear, of course I was disappointed and very outspoken,” said La Rue. “The fact is that it was pretty obvious to most that the models ‘appeared’ to be HIV+ and were having unsafe sex with what ‘appeared’ to be other HIV+ models… What we are seeing now is drastically different. We are seeing movies with 18 year old twinks being gang banged without condoms. We are seeing…20 year olds in the UK who have reportedly become HIV+ after making their first porn.”
Recently I stumbled across a forum on Facebook for guys into bareback sex and they were boasting about how many loads they took and how young they were when they started. Firstly the guys on there in their 50′s talking about how hot it is to hear of guys taking loads at 14 should be arrested on pedophilia charges, even if they haven’t touched anyone. Secondly I was shouted down by the group when I mentioned the dangers of HIV. Members actually told me I was ignorant and that chlamidia or gonorrhea were worse than HIV.
Is this the kind of message that is getting out there? I know HIV is far from the death sentence it used to be but every treatment has financial, emotional and physical side effects. How do we educate the younger generations that didn’t see an entire generation of gay men wiped out? I am pretty confident that my friends that are HIV+ wouldn’t be positive if they had a choice.

A few years back I used to have a grocery store in a very touristy area and was always amazed how few condoms I sold with all the sex going on. I just have to guess most of it was unprotected – which concerns heteros as well, not just gays. It was so obvious that tons of white folks came to finally do it with a black guy or girl, since they were to shy to do it back home. Hence, lots of local girls ages less than 18 had already 3 kids from 3 different guys… It just seems no campain to inform people works, for them FUN translates in drinking, drugging and having sex and if you try to talk two them, all they have to say is you don t know how to have fun. Which leaves me at total loss of words…
I want so badly to believe that things will change and that people will get the message that hot sex is not worth dying for, but my cock-eyed optimism is waning every day.
I think it just boils down to how we are “wired” as individuals…some people are able to see the big picture, others aren’t, and some choose to plead ignorance. The key is to get to those who are still impressionable and present a convincing argument. I, however, am out of ideas.
P.S.-On a slightly insensitive note, I really love the accompanying photo, where did you find it?
Yes bareback sex is dangeros for some – but I do not like this “nanny-state” idea where we ban everything. What happened to people taking responsibility for their own lives.
BB companies will simply move their production to Eastern Europe. It’s cheap, easy to find models and very little harassment. Which doesn’t solve the problem, but simply move it. The mainstream media needs to bring a focus back on HIV and that it is still a problem. People think that because they don’t see it/hear it or that someone looks healthy that it’s “ok” but it isn’t.
Really highlights how much our lives have changed. Very oppressive, repressive now. You think that we all protested against the establishment, now we have to be part of it. An Identity crisis we are having, now. The price we have to pay, to be the people we are not. Sad. One life and we cannot live it, any more.
