What a night!!

Last night was the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras parade and we had so much fun! The parade had over 6,000 participants and zillions of sequins and dodgy fashion choices that are perfect for mardi gras. Our routine was a really high energy routine that left us all exhausted half way in.

I was just browsing a couple of the local news sites online and one of the galleries had this photo of me and local blogger boy Shannon next to me! Our routine was a disco inspired number that the crowd seemed to love. Apparently the judges thought we were pretty good too. In our first year, 2007, we won sexiest float, last year we won best choreography, and last night we took out the grand prize of best float! That is despite, with a third of the parade to go, our generator blowing up so we had no music or lights. We did prove that we can all count to 8 over and over again after that to try and keep the routine going, some of us just didn’t do it at the same time! So much fun!

I was in the BGF stand and they announced your arrival and announced that your generator had broken down but despite that you could see that you were all in ‘tune’ with the music … so the music was not relevant.

To all the Lifesavers With Pride an excellent job considering the now music and a well-deserved Best Float Award.

    Congrats to you all.

Not on topic but WTF is going on with the same sex marriage vote in Australia and why is there no huge outrage from the community, parades are nice but can the community not get focused on REAL ISSUES!! is it an Australian thing not to fight back, as I remember Auzi’s being ready to fight if you said any thing that put the country down or impinged on their rights?

On another inquisitive note: why do they call whatever you lot are doing in Australia “Mardi Gras”? It is over a week since the actual day “Mardi Gras” and not even happening on a Tuesday. Do Australians simply not understand the concept or the meaning of the two words?

    Odd.

Great to see your photo with Shannon. I read both of your blogs daily – sexy guys saying worthwhile things. Thanks.

Congrats for celebrating Mardi Gras ( Fat Tuesaday) a week late. I hope you enjoy Christmas in January – and make us gay guys really weird.
