I must be mental

A couple of weeks ago I was approached through this blog to see if I wanted to try a 3 day cleansing detox program. So, if all goes to plan, starting tomorrow I won’t eat anything for 3 days, but will be drinking 6 different fruit and vegetable packed juices, full to the brim and beyond with nutrients to make me look and feel healthier.

The woman who I was dealing with promised me my skin would look fantastic, my body would flush out all the toxins and I’d probably even lose some body fat.

The prospect of 3 days without any food is quite daunting. My work colleagues are convinced I have worms because I eat 2 or 3 meals while I’m at work, not counting breakfast or dinner, plus a couple of snacks. The possibly more scary aspect is no caffeine is allowed for 3 days. I’m a big coffee and coca-cola drinker. Caffeine and I have had the closest thing to a long-term relationship that I’ve ever experienced. We argue every now and then when I think we’ve seen too much of each other, but then we soon kiss and make up. I haven’t fully prepared my work colleagues as to what I’m like without food or caffeine. Fingers crossed.

This photo is the “before”.

Beware of getting a headage because no caffeine is getting into your system. Good luck with the detox programm!

    Yes, a headage!
I did it too, and killed coffee and cola for a year.

I tried a one-day detox and was starving at the end of it. Just water to drink for a complete flush (literally).

It’s worthless because you will eat food eventually.

These detox diets are jiggery-pokery. There is no scientific evidence that any diet will get rid of ‘toxins’. Your liver and kidneys are perfectly capable of doing that themselves – every day on a normal diet. Otherwise you would be dead. All you will get out of this is one big headache and a lot of crankiness from the caffeine withdrawal, superficial weight loss that will be all about the water you will lose, and raging sore belly from the hunger. So – put yourself through pain and agony for no reason if you must.

These programs are worthless.Your liver is what detoxes your body, not drinking juice and starving yourself. Please do your own research into detoxing and you will realise it is a con

3 days isn’t a very long time to “detox” which makes me think of Edina Monsoon.

Um. Just word of the wise. A friend of mine did something similar, although I think his was 5 days. His suggestion is to make sure you have a restroom within a quick sprinting distance, and when you think you have to fart, *DON’T* … According to him, IT’S NOT A FART! Hehe.

Good luck…..I drink a six-pack of Coke a day, have for more than 30 years, and am 5′ 7″ and 135 lbs. I did stop once, cold-turkey, and wanted lemonade instead for about two weeks. Was SO tired all the time, and went right back to The Real Thing!
