One of the big plinths in London’s Trafalgar Square has been empty for some time while whatever it usually houses is being repaired or replaced so the council in the area allotted an hour at a time to whomever wanted to use the plinth, day or night.
These hardy souls decided that it was best put to use nude. Now, when I lived in London the weather wasn’t often conducive to nudity like this but I say good on them! One hardy fellow even went to the trouble to be completely bodypainted! What I like even more than the unabashed public nudity is that it was clearly perfectly legal!

The project ended on 14 October: I seem to remember it was wet, not unsurprising in London in the autumn. You can find highlights here:
http://www.oneandother.co.uk/ which may include videos of the naked ‘exhibits’.
The fourth plinth in the square was never ‘occupied’ and remained empty until 1999 -2001 when a series of temporary artworks were placed there. In 2005, it was decided to make it a continuing changing exhibition. Currently there is a commemorative statue of Sir Keith Park, due to be replaced in 2010 by ‘Nelson’s ship in a bottle’: http://www.london.gov.uk/fourthplinth/plinth/shonibare.jsp
‘One and other” was amazingly successful and could be viewed live on one of the satellite Arts TV channels.
Why, yes in fact … it is a bit chilly today - snow and not many degrees. Not conducive to nudity (outdoors at least).
