Recently I heard of a resort in Bali called Bali Au Naturel. A gay clothing optional resort that sounds really reasonably priced! I floated the idea of some time off to my manager today in January and it wasn’t a resounding no but I’ll have to see what happens. The resort runs partnership with another gay clothing optional resort and spa so from what I understand you can split your time over the two resorts.
I have to admit that Bali hasn’t held a lot of appeal for me, especially since the bombings and targeting of Aussies but some of the more militant religious groups, but the idea of a nude holiday does sound very nice! Does anyone know what the weather is like in Bali in January? If any readers have much experience of Bali, please comment!

I’m the same. Concept = very attractive. Bali = Simply not interested.
The summer months (November to February) are classified as the “wet season” but most days dawn fine, with showers holding off until later in the afternoon and evening.
What if you get raped or killed?
From what I understand, Indonesia isn’t the safest place for the homosexual community!

Hiya,
Bali is perfectly safe - Im Airline crew and I am in Bali on average 3 nites per week.
Bali is one of the most beautiful places in the world - admittedly - Kuta isnt that appealing unless you are into shopping and drinking - but it can be lots of fun. I believe the resorts you are talking about are north of Kuta in Seminyak? Its really nice up there.
Bali is very safe for the homosexual community - its widely accepted and myself, nor any of my friends or colleagues have ever had any problems.
Let me know if I can answer any specific questions for you.
I have been to the sister property “Laki Uma” and know a little of Bali au Natural - let me know what details you want and I will give them to you mate - JJ
Hey, get over yourselves. You can get bombed in New York or London - but that wouldn’t stop you visiting those places - would it? Dare I say it - it could happen in Sydney… Perhaps I should be on permanent holiday or not live in London?
I have been to Bali 3 years ago -and had a wonderful holiday (Kuta included). I have been to the property - and yes it’s great to be nude, and the property is very beautiful. However unless you go with friends - expect quiet rather than all night partying in this particular property. There are not many rooms if I remember rightly. I went for a few nights in July 2005, and there was only 3 of us.
Bali is actually a popular destination for gay Aussie tourists. You will feel like you have never left home.
Just came back from Bali in September. Stayed at a nude resort but not the one you are talking about. Yes, there is the threat of terrorism but isn’t that threat everywhere? Bali was so fun, the people so friendly, and cheap. I think Paul was right when he said it might be a bit quiet. If that is what you are after then go for it.
I stayed in “Spartacus” in Seminyak. Quite cheap, fun staff, close to really high class reataurants the beach and a quick 10 minute taxi from the gay clubs The clubs were so much fun, really good drag shows! The boys were the most forward I have ever come across. But not rent-boys. Just everyone was unashamedly out to have a good time.
We visit Bali in 2006 and had the time of our live! Beautiful island, very kind people, very safe, very gayfriendly and very relax. There is lot to do natur, party, beach etc. We traved around and booked a rentalcar and the hotels at http://www.balifriendlyhotels.com (specialist for gays)
Yes have been to laki uma, like most of bali, totally lush. Great mix of guests, there were a couple of flight attendants from nz, an indonesian couple from jacarta on holidays, and older english gent chasing younger bali boys, and me at the time, a syndeyite. it was mid year, weather was great
Forget it. I would not go to Bali. Too risky with bombings etc.
Bombings..wouldn’t affect my decision making. In January I would expect it to be pretty humid though..you may find yourself in airconditioned nudity rather than outside nudity.
Hey there, just to give you quick info, I’m a Balinese… and I do think Baliis still save place to go. Yes it’s supposed to be wet or rainy season by now, but it seems that we can’t reallt predict the weather (guess by all the climate change issue). Here in Bali it’s very hot nowadays, you sure just want to take off all ur clothes off.
There are several gay owned and gay friendly Villas in Bali… I have not been any of them since I’m discreet. But from several reviews I read, they sure is discreet and comfortable. ANybody wanna be friend with me…?
