I haven’t seen an HIV awareness ad with this impact for a long time.
Monthly Archive for October, 2009
The end of October is upon us and with it comes Halloween, a holiday not really celebrated here in Australia, certainly not to the extent it is in the U.S. I’m off to a Halloween party this evening but I’m not dressing up and I won’t be staying long as I have to be up and ready for the photoshoot tomorrow.
I’m sure there are lots of readers getting dressed up, or down, in sexy Halloween costumes. Feel free to send your photos in!
AussieBum has released a new range of undies called Surf Crew. My underwear drawer is a little overflowing so I won’t be ordering any but word has it from my insider that they are damned comfy. Right now I’m not fussed on their comfort, but who the new model is. I am working on some more details but don’t those abs look like fun to play with?
A couple of days ago my copy of the Dieux Du Stade DVD arrived and I have to say it’s HOT. There’s more full frontal this year than the last couple but the more important to me, the shoots, locations, styling and way it all happens is really fascinating to watch. Maybe it’s because I’ve got a lot of photography coming up but watching Tony Duran work is great.
Tony certainly isn’t shy about physically manouvering the models into position and even throwing buckets of water over them. Come to think of it, if you are going to be photographed by Tony Duran, you could almost bet money that he, or the cute assistant guy, are going to throw a bucket of water over you at some point!
On the weekend I was away up in northern NSW to go to a family friend’s wedding. It wasn’t like any wedding I’d ever been to. The couple are a bit hippy, a bit greeny and the wedding was very fitting for them. They married barefoot on the riverbanks with a small local choir singing and all the kids playing on the edge of the water. What was the unusual part, was that when the bride had finished signing the register, she promptly sat down and pull out her breast and started feeding their baby son. Not particularly normal by the standards of any wedding I’ve ever seen, but quite beautiful, if a little shocking given this was a girl I’ve grown up with.
Yesterday a mate of mine called from London. He and his boyfriend have been together for nearly 14 years and were just on a holiday in Egypt and Jordan. They did a hike up some mountain and arriving there at dawn, promptly turned to each other and proposed. It turns out both of them had been thinking about it and planning the proposal but obviously hadn’t discussed it. I love shit like that. Congratulations boys!
So, you find yourself in Scotland at the Windsurfing Championships, competition is fierce, but you and a couple of mates have some spare time and the beach is pretty empty (as a windy beach in Scotland often would be I suspect). What do you do? That’s right, take off all your clothes and go nude windsurfing. And in the case of one of them, sail one handed while protectively cupping your nether regions the whole time so no one gets a photo of your icicle doodle.
I would hazard a guess that even if he wasn’t cupping his genitals, they wouldn’t be visible so much to the photographers. Scottish waters are cold enough at the best of times but in October on a windy, cloudy day? Damn near freezing I’d guess. Good on them for having a go. They are a hell of a lot tougher than I am.
Welcome to a new regular feature on Aussielicious, Travelicious. I’m hoping to bring you all kinds of travel destinations and experiences. Some gay specific, some gay friendly and others that just appeal to me. Sadly, I won’t be road testing all of the destinations, unless of course there are those in the business who want to have a first hand review! My first Travelicious destination just had to be an Australian business, so I found Sangoma.
Travel a little over an hour out of Sydney towards the famous Blue Mountains and soak up the modern luxury of Sangoma Retreat. North West of Sydney, Sangoma has three luxury suites available all finished in a style which could be described as modern, luxury country. While the retreat was unearthed in a google search for “gay hotel” there is nothing specifically mentioned on their site about being marketed directly at we gays. Having said that, any luxury accommodation that lists in it’s selling points, a two person Philipe Starck bathtub has to be at the very least, welcoming to the stylish, cashed up gay market.
The retreat has three suites all attached to, or near the main house which houses the common facilities such as dining room, entertainment room and lounge room. The grounds are very much nestled beautifully into the rugged Australian bush with a spectacular pool with a stunning view over the region.
Sangoma looks like a perfect way to escape the rush of the city, and judging by the online booking form that has most weekends booked for several weeks, it’s popular.
I’ve not long got home from silks class where, this term we are being put through our paces. We are not only learning new tricks, but revisiting old tricks and attempting to do them better.
This is a promotional video from Sydney Dance Company. These people use their bodies in such a beautiful way. The control and discipline these people have is just astonishing. While I will never get there, it’s always good to strive for something and use it as inspiration.
The new ad for D&G’s Anthology range of fragrances is full of beautiful people. Sure there are a couple of girls in there, but I was impressed to see that Naomi Campbell didn’t actually throw her prop phone. It’s a bit of gratuitous hotness for your day.
I’m watching Australian Idol with my flatmate and a friend. Hayley is butchering the Killers song “somebody told me”. I’m just waiting for Stan to come out and rock something brilliantly. A couple of weeks ago it was “Big Band” night and he did Beyonce’s Single Ladies. Sounds so wrong in theory, but worked so well. Camp as a row of tents but I loved it.
Sometimes things just happen for a reason. Last weekend I took some photos (a few are above) of a mate Joe and they could possibly be leading to some commercial work for me which would be fantastic. Photography has always been a hobby for me, and I am hesitant to say I would want to make a career out of it and possibly kill the passion for hit with deadlines and client demands, but I’m certainly not going to turn down good opportunities that may come my way.
Next weekend I’ve got a studio booked and now have 4 guys lined up to shoot over the day. I can’t wait. It’s going to be a long and tiring day but hopefully very satisfying.
If you put it out there, it might just happen. I hinted the other day that some exciting things were in the pipeline. They are only small steps, but they are getting there. The Online Content Manager at DNA Magazine contacted me the other day on modelmayhem asking me to submit some photos for their blog. Lo and behold some of my shots of Kieran are up today on the DNA Blog. How exciting. They are also featuring my shots of James the bodybuilder over the weekend!
A 50 year old man was arrested after a US Airways flight had to be diverted because he had stripped naked on a flight. The man calmly stripped off all his clothing while on the flight and refused requests to put them back on and eventually became violent, assaulting the flight attendant who tried to cover him with a blanket.
Now I understand legally he wasn’t doing the right thing by being nude, but really… it’s not like he was hiding any weapons, although they haven’t shown him from the front so I don’t know. From the article, I don’t seem to get the impression that he was running around waving it in peoples faces. Maybe they should have clothing optional flights?
When the credit crunch hit this company in Northern UK, a business consultant was brought in to boost moral after 6 redundancies. What did the consultant suggest? Working naked. That’s right, naked. Apparently the theory was that if they’ve seen each other naked, then they’ve got nothing to hide, therefore facilitating better communication and productivity.
As much as I like being nude, I’m not sure I want to see some of my colleagues naked at all. Read the full article here.
Joseph Sayers would have to be one of the most beautiful guys I’ve ever come across. He’s been on the modelling scene for a couple of years now and caused a stir when he posed full frontal. This shoot by Hudson Wright is beautiful. Joseph clearly looks after his body very very well. Beautiful, yet very masculine, it’s a great combination.
