Have been broken into….yuk yuk yuk…and yuk for several months. One thing as well, is that many rentals are “uninsurable” as the locks don’t meet the strict requirements of the insurers and so there is the dilemna of paying out the money for a place you don’t own when the landlord is unlikely to fork out the money.

We had a flat mate like that once as well – caught them the third time breeaking in themselves to make it look like the place was robbed. Always did seem dodgy that the rent money was the ONLY thing missing!
