Yes...Don't camp near the water's edge. Crocodiles like to haul out...sometimes quite away out.

Brendon,

Check out Baramundi Falls if you can. It requires a 4WD (but not rough) to get there, but is definately worth it. Beautiful deep waterholes (without crocs) cascading there way down the magnificent Kakadu escarpment. I've got a couple of pics from when we were up there with friends a few years ago. We spent about 4 hours there nude and chillin'

I recommend staying somewhere near the harbour, beautiful views and only a short walk to town.
x

Quite a few places to stay that are pretty nice depending on your budget. Along the Esplanade are the nicer hotels, but there are a few alright places in the city as well. (you know, one street away!)
You can pretty much walk anywhere within the city, and if you can make sure you stay on either a thursday night or a sunday, so you can go to Mindil Beach Markets. They're this huge market along the beach at sunset, so you get a great view and great food! There is a "free" beach or at least there used to be (casuarina Beach) but really, it's all flat surf and old letches anyway! Darwin is a really beautiful city, as is Kakadu and Litchfield Park. I hope you have a beautiful time there.
