Surf Camp 3 is here

It’s time to vote again, but only after you’ve watched the latest clip and seen who gets eliminated. One of the boys had to be collected from Arq nightclub to make it to filming and I don’t think it helped his surfing prowess!

To vote for your favourite boy, head over to SameSame!

Aussiebum’s Valentine’s reminder

Those lovely folks at aussieBum have put together a little reminder for us for Valentine’s Day. For a limited time, once again for Valentine’s Day, they are releasing love themed boxers with the supportive pouch. What’s more is they seem to have yet another HUNKY model out in the streets showing them off. I think I might have just got a bit over excited looking at him. WHOA!

They are offering free shipping with these babies too! So get in now and have them in time for your loverboy!

Slipping into a coma

Today was marginally better but the last couple of weeks back at work have been INCREDIBLY quiet. We aren’t suffering from the downturn in the economy, just overly organised and we got everything out before Christmas and now we are just waiting for stuff to come in.

Nothing exciting happened today and I haven’t been inspired to write anything either. Other blogs have covered the inauguration way better than I could so I’ll leave that to them.

Gay lifesavers featured in Brasil

This year I’ve taken over doing the blog for the gay lifesavers and a bit of PR and media for them too. Last week I did an interview over the phone with a freelance journalist for BBC Brasil and the article is now up on their site. It’s pretty cool that we are getting our message out around the world!

If you are a lifesaver and you want to be part of the Lifesavers With Pride float in the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, email your details to lifesaverswithpride@gmail.com and even if you aren’t a lifesaver we hope we’ll hear you cheering for us on the night!

15 All American Guys

This video could inspire or it could depress people. I’m using it for inspiration. Less than 7 weeks out from the Mardi Gras parade I’m kicking my training into high gear. Higher than what it has been wouldn’t be hard with a month off over the holidays but I’m actually even being quite good with what I’m eating. A girl at the gym is writing me up an eating plan that she’s promised will be easy to maintain (that one I’ll keep you posted on).

My training partner at the gym has agreed to go back to a routine that we did for too long but have had a break from for a few months now. It’s an effective one and more importantly one I enjoy.

I have to say, this video would suggest that men these days don’t have body hair at all. I know it’s all about the definition for the photos etc but as I get older I don’t mind a bit of hair on a man. This video is the top 15 guys featured on All American Guys in 2008.

Give me a moment

Today was a hideous day for me. The first couple of hours at work weren’t fun, not for any particular reason, just several little things piling up on each other, combined with a message or two I got, then we had a power blackout in the whole suburb.

The blackout wasn’t so bad, because the boss decided to buy us all lunch at the pub. Things were starting to look up until the second beer arrived and the (thankfully very cute) waiter spilt a whole beer right down my back. Not happy. All afternoon I smelt like stale beer and had a headache. So I’m going to chill out for a bit this evening and get back to posting in a little while.

Too much lying around

It seems that I haven’t been doing what I need to, to maintain my conditioning for aerial silks lately. That’s really no surprise, for four weeks over the holidays I didn’t set foot in the gym once and have barely climbed a set of silks more than twice in that time either. So needless to say I arrived at open training tonight with grand visions of doing my new routine a couple of times from start to finish, but didn’t even do it in it’s entirety once.

I broke it down in to a few pieces and did various combinations a few times each. It wasn’t entirely a wasted session, I have things to focus on and work on and I think I know the timing pretty well.

Not sure I would

When these photos came into my inbox over the weekend I thought how cool. At first I thought that’s madness, rock climbing nude like that, but then I realised that if I was swimming in a nice waterhole, and there was a climb-able wall like this, I’d be there in a flash.

I know the first pic of the guy in the waterfall isn’t the same guy, but I thought the photo worked well!

A matter of perception

I had a comment on the blog last night from someone that made me realise we all look at things very differently with our own perceptions colouring the way we see the same world in different ways.

The commenter went to great lengths to tell me that even though he’s been reading the blog for some time that he thinks I don’t share much of myself. He knows that I like social nudity and that I do Poll dancing (his spelling mistake not mine) and that was about it. I find it interesting that he can think I don’t share much when many others have told me that I am much more open and revealing than they could ever be. I’ve shared about my aspirations in life, my loneliness about being single, my counselling, dramas with work and money over the last few years and lots of things. I don’t share much about my family because they haven’t made the choice to blog, I have and it’s not fair of me to detail their lives without their consent.

Do you think I share too much or share not enough? I’m curious. It probably won’t influence what I post but I’m intrigued.

Such a shame

We are in the midst of the Sydney Festival at the moment here in Sydney, which means there are events going on all over the place like concerts, plays, and all sorts of stuff. There used to be a rival Sydney Fringe Festival every year as well. I’m not sure if that still happens but one event in the fringe festival doesn’t happen.

The Bondi Twighlight nude surfing competition used to be a very popular event but due to unruly press photographers and too many spectators it was canned. Such a shame. It’s definitely something that I think should be brought back!

Nick Youngquest for Tetu

Nick Youngquest is the hot NRL coverboy of the Gods of Football calendar and recent coverboy for DNA. He’s now added coverboy for Tetu to the list. For our lifesavers photoshoot, we didn’t have a behind the scenes video, but I’m glad Nick does. Two gay magazine covers in a few months and hot as hell, the man is obviously very comfortable with us gay boys looking at him. I just wish he’d dropped the cushion!

Taunted into suicide

This UK teenager, 17 year old Shaun Dykes was close to being talked out of committing suicide by jumping to his death when cruel, horrible onlookers taunted him from below with comments like “Stop wasting our time” until he jumped to his death. The teen died instantly from horrific injuries and the disgusting onlookers took out cameras and took photos of his body.

What kind of society are we living in that this is acceptable. A police negotiator was moments from saving the youth, who had been engaged in conversation with him. Shaun allegedly had a history of suicide attempts and depression and had recently broken up with his boyfriend. I found this story today and it just about made me cry but anger stopped that. Human nature can be a revolting thing at times.

The homo heroes are recruiting

As I said the other day, it’s Mardi Gras preparation season and as part of that, we are looking for gay guys and girls who are lifesavers to join us in the Mardi Gras parade and celebrate being a Lifesaver With Pride up Oxford Street.

Brilliant Benjamin Button

I’ve just walked in the door from seeing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. What a beautiful movie. Firstly the two leads are people I could watch in just about anything. Brad, we all know is stunning to look at and does a brilliant job of capturing the exuberance of youth trapped in the body of a frail old man and when he gets young and in love he is just physically stunning.

Cate Blanchett is just one of the most beautiful and elegant women around. From what I believe she did most of her own dancing in this movie and is just delightful to watch all the way through.

The face of fashion

It’s a strange world we live in where the guys we all ogle and lust after on blogs like this are usually the beefier muscle boys who would never score a high fashion modelling gig in a million years but underwear and swimwear, they are the first call.

A guy I’ve met recently and hung out with a bit is a model but for the fashion end of the spectrum and he’s lost 20 pounds of muscle from his competitive swimming days to maintain the lean figure required for high fashion. Why is it we portray a style of clothing as ideal but the people who we portray as ideal can’t wear the clothes in the right way?
