Working off the ground brings with it some inherent risks, and I guess adding dramatic drops and tricks adds to that danger. In the show I performed last week and in the upcoming show for my aerials school, I did/am doing a trick that is absolutely brutal on the ankles and I think to make sure they don’t actually snap, I’ll cheat it in the rehearsals and give my right ankle a break before it breaks.
Basically you wrap the fabric around both ankles in a figure 8 and around the first ankle again for a second time, then dramatically dive backwards so you end up dangling by your feet. Having done it in rehearsals now for two weeks, my right ankle really does feel like it’s at breaking point.

It sounds like it’s not going to be doing much good to your ankle ligaments or joints either. If it hurts – it’s probably a good indication to find a different way to do it… ie improve the wrapping technique on the legs perhaps?
Haven’t been able to find your email to send this to you directly, but the first part of this transcript of an interview with the Attorney General on ABC2 breakfast is great news for us here in Australia:

Quietly, it seems, they’ve amended 100 pieces of discriminating legislation against same-sex couples and all it needs now is to pass through the House of Reps on its way to the Governor General. A proud day for this country (though he did rule out changing the Marriage Act … for now).
OMG! Brenton don’t hurt your little self! You’re the only one we have!
