I think Matthew did a fantastic job for Australia. However I think the most interesting thing to note is that Matthew Mitcham is not the first openly gay Australian athlete. Last year Mathew Helm did an article for DNA in which he describes himself as openly gay. I suppose the difference is that Mathew H didn’t come out in the local paper and therefore people aren’t as aware.

Congratulations to matt , he is so cute , so simple , so tender ….i see the video in a french web site ( he was with his mother and his boyfriend …so lovely , so romantic .
I also see his interview in bejing for the canadian television , matt speak french with a such lovely accent .

Rupert Murdoch and his greedy mob are at it again. I am an Australian living in Italy and Fox news tell me I don’t have the right to view the video of Matthew’s win.It’s a shame that he put so much effort into winning for his country and f****** Fox tells me they own the rights.
