Francois Rousseau would have to be right up there alongside James Houston as my favourite contemporary photographer. His work is so rich and luscious, the men are gorgeous, locations sublime and beautifully presented.
Francois has just released a new book called “Ora” that he shot in Polynesia and as usual it’s exotic and totally sublime. Check out the “making of” video below. For some reason I can’t find the book on Amazon.com. I know it’s available on the french version of the site but I can’t add it to my wish list there so I remember where to get it.

The photos is so beautiful….
These are good photo’s, though the subject matter is kinda lame! I mean it always pissess me off when people completly sexualise the Pacific Islands! Its like a blast back to the colonial times, with Europeans making the polynesians go topless for “anthropological” pictures, that treated the subject matter in purely sexual terms.
I know its just the subject matter, but I feel it is a bit rude, to make it this exotic, sexual, primitive type of landscape!
I like the use of color in the pics.
