An Alderman in Amsterdam has announced plans to legalise gay-sex in a public park, essentially because it’s always going to happen regardless of legality.
“Amsterdam’s beautiful Vondelpark in the centre of city draws hordes of summer visitors, families, skaters and joggers. But the park’s rose garden has become famous as a trysting spot for gay men looking for uncomplicated sexual encounters.” Check out the full article here.
First of all, this is not from personal experience.
The Rose garden at the Vondelpark has been a cruising area since just after WW2, maybe even before that time. No one had ever a problem with that. The childrens playground is not anywhere near it, and what would kids do in the park after hours anyway?!
There are enough other cruising places around the Netherlands, the Gay Krant, Hollands formost Gay magazine publishes yearly a list of places to visit.
Kind of like prostitution and drugs, eh?

Nice to see you edited my post to make it agree with your opinion! Very unethical! It’s not a great idea at all - I think it reeks of special treatment for gay people (where are the areas for heterosexual public sex) and will therefore backfire on us in the long run. It also feeds into the idea that all gay men are sex addicts who need to fuck everywhere they go and that apparently sex in their own homes, in backrooms and sex clubs, etc., is just not enough!
That would take the fun out of it if it was legal
I was in Amsterdam in 1971. It was a rare hot sunny day in July. There were many individuals sun bathing in the nude and I saw more than one nude hetero couple enjoying each other in Vondepark. No one seemed to mind. It was August of that year that I finally had my moment of truth. Would be nice to go back and find the rose garden. I think that it is a very good idea. There used to be a cruising place at the end of the a bike path here. No one went there except gay men. Then, the police started entrapping men. What a waste of time. No harm was done. The Dutch are so much more with it in getting rid of the century old anti sex/anti body attitudes that are based in irrationality. Thank God, that there is a place in the world like Amsterdam.
