Fight Out Loud - hate crimes rising

This is just so sad. I don’t understand the mentality that seems to justify hate, violence and murder because of sexual identity or any other reason.

No suprrise, but it sure isn’t a very pretty world we live in sometimes. You know, without people actually living on this planet, it might not be such a bad place to live.

Yes this is totally unnecessary and tragic, and America is a country of extremes but thank goodness there is not an Australian version of this video (yet).

There isn’t an Australian version, but there may well be if we sit back and allow the religious right to maintain their attempts to control the political agenda and inject their bigotry into legislation…..which is their aim!

I was bashed in Oxford Street, Sydney only two years ago, for no reason other than my friend and I were walking happily, arm in arm. I thought the guy was joking when he said something about “poofter” until he knocked me to the ground, my glasses twisted and blood pouring from my head. As he walked away I screamed out (perhaps stupidly) “Get a life” and he returned to bash me again. What could have happened if I’d persisted with my protest? God knows.

An Australian version of the video isn’t far away.

That is disgusting and I was shocked to read what happened to you. I have become a bit complacent then. Apart from write to my local member what else can we do?

Correct me if I am wrong but I am getting the impression that Kevin Rudd is on our side.
