For anyone visiting for mardi gras for the first time and going to the after party which is officially sold out for the first time in years, this video gives you a good impression of what to expect.
I’ve heard rumours of all sorts of performers, Olivia Newtown-John, Cindy Lauper, George Michael, Scissor Sisters and Bear Force One. Who will actually turn up? Who knows!
Well ONJ is named on their advertising, so I think we can lock her in :) She’s doing the 3am show, apparently. Hope I can last that long!
It is The Party (in capitals) not the after party. The main event is both the parade and the party.
Olivia Newton John AND Cindy Lauper will both be performing. Cindy Lauper announced it herself when she was on the Today Show.
Also, the lead entry in the parade will be the 78ers and the Chief of Parade is Margaret Cho.
I’m definitely looking forward to the event! I got my tickets about 2 days before it sold out.

Call me lame, but if I came out to Aussie land for Mardi Gras I’d enjoy all kinds of fun things during the day, but the last place you would find me would be at a late night dance party. They just don’t agree with me, no matter who was performing.
