Beautiful

Apparently there are constantly people out there who don’t get the way I write, and I understand that’s going to happen. Someone has taken deep offence to my very tongue-in-cheek post about pregnant women being everywhere at the moment.

Personally I think pregnant women look amazing. Sure they have days where they are over carrying the extra belly around, and they are sore and tired, but I know your average father-to-be adores his partner’s shape. While I’m not asking that men be able to carry children and give birth I think it is a beautiful thing to behold. So to the reader who somehow took my post and derived an opinion that I was attacking pregnant women from it, I apologise if you got the wrong impression from my writing.

Don’t apologise. Some people get offended at the most innocuous of things. You can’t help it, they’re just overly sensitive and lacking in perspective. If somebody is going to take offence (I say “take” because none was given) then that is their prerogative and you have nothing to apologise for.

Some people just need to take a chill-pill and relax. Save the apologies for people who deserve them.

they are so off the planet..

Hey, can’t see why he got all hot and bothered. I got what you meant!. But hey, I’ve just found out 6 ladies are pregnant at my work and one is my best friend Hazel. I guess I’ll be going thro the Aunty James jibes again - lol. Definately the Scottish water! Hee Hee!

I got it and wasn’t offended by it but then I have been told that my sense of humor is a bit warped at times. :-) Don’t listen to your naysayers.

It was nice of you to apologize, though I feel it was unnecessary. I mean, if you had out-and-out bashed pregnant women, calling them rude names or something, that would be different. But you said nothing like that. You simply described your feelings on the matter.

One should not feel obligated to apologize for their feelings.

I had to go back and read the comments for the original posting as when I saw this posting wondered what was going on. I may have read much more into it, but I was left thinking “yep right…men can’t handle pregnancy” and that Brenton had thrown up a slightly tangential humorous view to the subject. Women and straight males make jokes about preganancy and waters breaking so…why does it become mysoginistic for a gay male to join the queue of light hearted banter. I honestly think that people that make vitriolic abusive comments in response to a posting have issues that go way deeper than the original posting.
