Get out of town!

After watching the Scenic boys videos for a while now I’ve been thinking more and more of camping out in the wilds and getting back to nature. A friend asked me to go camping and canoing this weekend but I couldn’t make it sadly.

It’s literally been over 20 years since I’ve been camping and it’s time. I want to rough it properly, none of this “camping” in a cabin with hot and cold running water. I’d love to find somewhere off the beaten track, by a river or a lake somewhere. Any suggestions?

    Hi Brenton.

Not exactly off the beaten track, but Myall Lakes is great. There is one spot where you can camp literally over the sand dunes from the beach. The lakes complex is huge, so you can camp near still water or surf. And it’s only 3 hours from Sydney.

Have definite suggestions, but it’s going to require a bit of travel. You don’t need to bring a thing, though. We’ve got a basement filled with a huge tent, cookware, sleeping bags, and everything else possible to enjoy the great outdoors. Come on up, my friend. You know you always have a place to stay.

I like camping, but unless the climate is toasty warm for natural bathing, or I’m at a site that at least has public showers with hot water, I’ll take a pass. I can’t do the cold water bathing, as I get short of breath, and not bathing is not an option, as I get sweaty and smelly very easily.

There is a facebook Gay Camping NSW Group - even if you cant or dont want to go with them they would be able to recommend some great locations. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2487655950

They seem to have a great time :) Good luck.
