I hear talk of a mythical time in yesteryear when men gathered for swimming classes in times before lycra and nylon girded their loins in a futile attempt at modesty and all were free to swing in the breeze and float in the pool as nature intended.
I might have been more keen to do all those millions of laps in the pool at swimming training through school if all the other guys had been nude. I think it’s a fantastic idea and surely, it’s added resistance training? Especially for the bigger boys.

where does this talk come from?
Must admit, swimming in the nude is great…but I am a bit of an enigma at a nudist beach as I keep the speedos on when sunbaking….not out of prudery (or..lack of size!!) …apparently speedo lines equate to sex in Britain!! Determined to find out
From what I understand, prior to the mid-70’s, single-sex swimming classes were done au natural, at least in the US. I’d find that both enticing and extremely intimidating, knowing how awkward I was as a youth.
Brenton, you didn’t swim competitively in high school? I’d always assumed you did as you are such a great swimmer now.
I’m liking this site more! :-) Link my blog to yours. Keep up the great job!
Are you kidding? Naked in grade school with boys? Well…. maybe???!!! And, nowadays? Oh yeah. You did see my post with a shout out to you…right?
The new site if wonderful, only wish the link to the photos came out bigger. As to swimming classes in the nude? Hummmmm, sure isn’t something we got to do in my neck of the woods, LOL. For us even a Speedo was an adventure, LOL.
Brenton,
The new site looks great mate!!!

I wanted to say my mom always used to tell us about swimming in highschool in Long Island, NY,and that the boys classes were seperate because they swam nude. so I believe its true for some schools in the states. And boy have I only imagined how that would ahve been.. ahh yeah! keep up the great blog bud.
later, daninokc
As a kid, I learned to swim at the YMCA in Pasadena, California. All classes were in the nude. It wasn’t until my twenties that I realized that not everyone learned to swim while naked. The YMCA is still there, but I bet the textile policy has changed. Poor kids.
